Happy New Year!! Welcome to 2022!! We hope that everyone had a safe yet exciting New Years Eve. Now that 2021 is behind us we can all breath a collective sigh of relief.
Covid is showing signs of becoming more manageable. We are finally learning how to deal with the flood of misinformation that appears to dominate social media on a regular basis and no one felt the need to storm the capital this year. All in all we are off to a reasonably good start. Knock on wood.
New Year, New Me
In addition to the relief that 2021 is finally over, there is the hope and expectation of the new year and all it promises to bring. We are all too familiar with the ‘New Year, New Me’ conundrum. We make resolutions to change for the new year, to become better people in general. Often those fall short of the mark.
The energy for this year is different. Maybe its the pressure-cooker intensity of the last two years. Perhaps its the fact that we have had more than enough time for self-reflection to be realistic about who we are and what we are capable of. Maybe its because we have simply become more focused and aware of our true priorities in life.Whatever the case may be, we are ready to make lasting changes in the new year.
Built to Fail
New Years resolutions often fail. There is usually no single reason for this, it is often a combination of elements. One of the main reason resolutions fail is that they are unrealistic.
We may be in a new year, but realistically 2021 was literally going on this time last week. Its important to understand the types of changes you can make literally overnight.
The idea that we can radically change our behavior from one day to the next is pretty nuts. Effecting long lasting change takes time and effort. More importantly it takes sustained focus.
Know Thyself
The first step to making realistic new years resolutions is to be honest with yourself about what your limits are. Be realistic about what you can accomplish in a short period of time.
For example if you have been a Netflix binging, Instagram scrolling, couch potato for most of the pandemic, going to the gym 5 times a week is not realistic. What is realistic is starting some kind of exercise regime with the intent of increasing the intensity over a period of time.
Its all about knowing what you are capable of and setting realistic goals that you know you will be able to achieve.
Staying the Course
Once you have made a realistic resolution how do you make sure you stick to it? In all honesty if you have made a realistic resolution it should not be too difficult. But we are all only human and temptation is real, so its good to have a plan in place.
The secret to staying the course on resolutions is, like most things, in your mind. Your mindset is everything. You must be mindful not only of the resolution that you have made, but why you have made that resolution. This in turn leads to being mindful of the impact the resolution will have not only on you but on the people in your life as well.
Once you are able to see clearly why you have chosen the resolution and the positive impact it will have on your life and the people in it, it will be much easier to stay the course.
Tools and Tricks of the Trade
So we have made realistic resolutions we are mindful of the positive impact not only our lives but on the lives of those we know and love. Lets talk about some tools and tricks we can use to boost our chances of success.
One key to staying the course is to not let yourself become overwhelmed by stress and anxiety. This is easier said than done. Stress and anxiety trigger a need to feel safe. When we need to feel safe we tend to fall back on familiar behavior patterns regardless of whether they are positive or negative. We do this simply because they are familiar and they make us feel like “our old selves again”.
Tricks that we use to keep stress and anxiety at bay are things like yoga, meditation and exercise which is great for those of us who have these as our resolutions. Of course another sure fire way to manage anxiety and stress is to introduce CBD and other cannbinoid extracts into your daily regimen.
Hows and Whys
Lets start with the why. CBD is great for a variety of conditions. Pain treatment and anti-inflammation are at the top of the list. But it is also very good for treating anti-anxiety and anti-stress.
One of the more experienced customers has described it like this:
“CBD is not going to make your stress and/or anxiety magically disappear. They will still there but they are greatly diminished. The CBD gives you the sense of calm and the headspace required to look at your problems and solve them rather than being overwhelmed by them and the anxiety and stress associated with them.”
Its not just CBD that can help either. CBG is great for focus and energy, both of which are required to stay on task. CBDA is really great for feminine health issues such as menstruation and menopause. These are two health issues that women have to deal with on a regular basis and it is much easier to face life’s difficulties when you don’t have to worry about the often devastating symptoms of the symptoms.
And last but not least there is the Sleep tincture. The importance of sleep in our lives is well documented. A bad nights sleep can create an overwhelming sense of anxiety and stress, which make it difficult to stay focused on anything for very long, let alone a New Years resolution.
So we wish everyone the best of luck, light and love for the new year. Stay focused on your resolutions and if you break, don’t worry about it, its not a race and real change takes time. So be patient, gentle and encouraging with yourselves, you got this.
